Privacy policy

The Teak Place ("we", "us") sells teak outdoor furniture from our showroom in Rosebud, Victoria, and online at teakplace.com.au. We respect your privacy and handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with and how you can reach us.

What we collect

Order and contact details: your name, email address, phone number, delivery and billing address, and what you buy or ask a quote for.
Payment details: payments are processed by our payment providers (such as Shopify Payments). We do not see or store your full card number.
Messages: what you send us by email, phone, the contact form or social media.
Website use: your device, browser, IP address and the pages you visit, collected through cookies and similar technology.

Why we use it

To process and deliver your order, arrange freight and give you a delivery quote.
To answer your questions and provide after-sales service and warranty support.
To send you our newsletter and offers, only if you have signed up. You can unsubscribe at any time with the link in every email.
To understand how our website is used, improve it, and show relevant advertising.
To meet our legal obligations, for example keeping tax records.

Who we share it with

We never sell your personal information. We only share it with businesses that help us run the shop:

Shopify, which runs our online store, checkout and newsletter.
Payment providers, to process your payment.
Delivery companies, which receive your name, address and phone number to deliver your order.
Google (Analytics, Ads, Shopping and Customer Reviews) and Meta (Facebook and Instagram), for website statistics, advertising and, if you agree at checkout, a review survey.

Some of these providers store information outside Australia, for example in the United States. We only use reputable providers that protect personal information.

Cookies and advertising

We use cookies to keep the website working, to measure its use and for advertising on Google, Facebook and Instagram. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. You can also manage ads through Google Ad Settings and Facebook Ad Preferences, and opt out of Google Analytics with the Google Analytics opt-out.

How long we keep it

We keep order records as long as the law requires (for tax purposes, usually five years) and as long as needed for warranty support. Other information is deleted or de-identified when we no longer need it.

Your rights

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it where we are not required to keep it. Contact us using the details below and we will respond within 30 days.
